When it comes to whiskey, I tend to go for Kentucky bourbon. But since it’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend, something a wee bit Irish felt more appropriate! You’ll never find me drinking green beer, but I’m happy to sip Irish whiskey.
One of the easiest drinks to make for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration is an Irish Mule. If you enjoy a Kentucky Mule (made with bourbon) or a Moscow Mule (made with vodka), you’ll like the Irish Mule, which is a mix of Irish whiskey, spicy ginger beer and fresh lime juice.
Irish Mule Drink Recipe
1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey such as Jameson
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
4 ounces cold ginger beer
Fill a glass with ice. Add Irish whiskey and lime juice to glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with lime wedge.
Makes 1 drink
Tip: To make an Irish Ginger Drink (a.k.a. Big Ginger Drink), use ginger ale in place of the ginger beer. Garnish with lemon and lime wedges.
