Fall feels like the perfect time to indulge in hard apple cider. Although it’s delicious right out of the bottle, I like using hard cider as a cocktail mixer. Lately I’ve been making this hard cider cocktail spiked with bourbon whiskey. A dash of bitters and a touch of maple syrup tie it all together.
Bourbon Cider Cocktail Recipe
1 ounce bourbon whiskey such as Jim Beam or Maker’s Mark
1/2 teaspoon pure maple syrup
Dash Angostura bitters
4 ounces hard apple cider such as The Saint from Crispin
Fresh apple slice
Fill a glass with ice cubes. Add bourbon, maple syrup and bitters. Top with hard apple cider; stir gently. Garnish with a fresh apple slice.
Makes 1 cocktail
Tip: The style and flavor of hard cider varies. Use your favorite hard cider to make the drink; taste and add more maple syrup, if needed.
