Coffee Banana Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie is for coffee lovers. It’s made with strong cold brew coffee for a caffeine kick and a frozen banana for sweetness and body. The coffee banana smoothie is finished with a spoonful of coconut butter to add richness and flavor.Cold Press Coffee Smoothie
Let’s talk about coconut butter. Coconut oil and coconut butter are not the same thing. Coconut oil is pure coconut fat, while coconut butter is made by blending the flesh of coconut—it includes coconut solids in addition to fat. When you add coconut butter to a smoothie, be sure to add it in solid form. If you add coconut butter in liquid (melted) form, it may sink to the bottom of your blender and solidify in the blades when it is added to cold liquid. (Trust me. Learn from my mistakes.)

Cold Brew Coffee-Banana Smoothie Recipe
3/4 cup cold brew coffee, chilled
1 medium frozen banana, sliced
1 tablespoon solid coconut butter (do not melt)

In a blender container combine coffee and banana; cover and blend until smooth. Add coconut butter; cover and blend until frothy. Pour into a glass.

Makes 1 smoothie (about 1 1/4 cups)

Mixed Berry Chia Smoothie Recipe

Berry Chia SmoothieLove or hate: where do you stand on chia smoothies? Since I’ve posted several chia recipes, you may have guessed that I love chia smoothies.how to add chia to smoothiesWhen I’m looking for a more filling smoothie, I add chia seed gel to my smoothie glass. (Chia seed gel is made by soaking chia seeds in water until they absorb the liquid and form a gel.) I don’t blend the chia seeds with my smoothie because I like the texture of the chewy, gelled chia seeds. Plus, the teeny tiny chia seeds are fun to suck up with a straw.

Mixed Berry Chia Smoothie Recipe

1/2 cup cold water
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 cup unsweetened almond milk or cashew milk (I use homemade nut milk)
1/4 cup canned, full-fat coconut milk
1 cup frozen mixed berries
Natural sweetener, if desired

To make chia gel, combine cold water and chia seeds in a small bowl. Let stand at room temperature for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until chia seeds soak up the water and form a gel.

For smoothie, add almond milk, coconut milk and berries to blender container. Cover and blend until smooth. Taste and sweeten as desired.

Divide chia seed gel between 2 glasses. Pour smoothie over chia seed gel. Serve with a straw to stir the smoothie and suck up the chewy chia seeds.

Pineapple-Avocado Kefir Smoothie Recipe

Kefir Hemp SmoothieLately I’ve been reaching for whole milk kefir when I make my breakfast smoothie. Kefir- a cultured milk- has a thick and creamy consistency and tangy flavor. It’s delicious blended in a smoothie with sweet pineapple and buttery avocado. A sprinkling of hemp seeds adds an extra hit of nutrition.

Pineapple-Avocado Kefir Smoothie Recipe
1 cup whole milk organic kefir
3/4 cup fresh or frozen, thawed pineapple chunks
1/2 a medium ripe Hass avocado, peeled and pitted
1 teaspoon hemp seeds

In a blender container combine kefir, pineapple, avocado and hemp seeds. Cover and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass. If desired, sprinkle with additional hemp seeds.

Makes 1 big smoothie (about 1 3/4 cups total)

Banana-Almond Kefir Smoothie Recipe

Banana Almond Kefir Smoothie | KingfieldKitchenKefir is cultured milk that is rich and tangy and tart. It makes an amazing base for a smoothie like this easy 4-ingredient beauty. Simply start with whole milk kefir and blend in banana, almond butter and some sweet spices and you’ve got breakfast.

I happen to love the tang of kefir, so I rely on the banana to lightly sweeten the drink and don’t add any other sweetener. If you like a sweeter drink, try adding a drizzle of honey or pure maple syrup.Healthy Kefir Smoothie
